ah, the greener grass ...

... or the newer car, or the more expensive clothes, the bigger boat, the more prestigious neighborhood, the "status" country club, the "Platinum" debtors' card, the "more compatible" marriage, the "upgraded relationship" or the more lucrative career. 

Why does the grass always seem greener?

Sometimes I think we want the greener things because we don't appreciate what we already have and are too selfish ... too concerned with satisfying ourselves ... to consider the consequences of our I Deserve, I'd-Be-Happy-If-Only pursuits.

Wonder where the phrase "Green with envy" comes from?  Lack of oxygen?  hmmm.
