Christian character ... or caricature?

Ever heard someone say "So-and-so doesn't act like a Christian"?

Makes me wonder, how should a Christian act ... and what does that mean?

Does it mean Don't Drink, Don't Smoke, Don't have sex before marriage and Don't miss church on Sundays? Is "Christian character" measured according to how a person acts?

Sounds like a bad idea to me, especially because of that word "acts." You can google "act like a Christian" and actually find sites replete with long lists-- of man made rules, naturally-- mandating how a Christian should act.

But rules are a superficial, surface-only thing ... and leave lots of holes in the surface, too.

Makes me wonder who's got any idea how that same person "acts" behind closed doors ... when they're not acting any more ... and what their real-life heart reveals through their actions.

----

The first two letters in the word Believer are Be ... as in, Be like Christ.

Instead of just acting like a Christian.
